How you can support us

Contribute or suggest content

Aimed at providing a dynamic and growing educational resource, WhatIsBiotechnology.org welcomes all comments and suggestions about any people, places and sciences not already covered on the site. We are keen to have any information relating to those whose experiences are often missed in traditional accounts of the science and industry behind biotechnology, including women and those based in developing countries.

Donations

Intended for the benefit of the public, WiB was set up with the generous support and guidance of individual philanthropists and organisations like the UK Medical Research Council.

As an independent, non-profit educational organisation, WiB needs your help to realise its mission to become the world's largest online collection of trusted and reliable resources about what biotechnology is, where it comes from and its many applications in medicine.

Every donation, large or small make a real difference to what we can achieve. All contributions go towards increasing the website's content, allowing it to be free to the many thousands of people who access it every month from across the world. Visitors to WiB range from school children through to healthcare professionals, scientists, patients, industry experts and policy-makers.

We welcome individual contributions, planned gifts, gifts-in-kind, corporate sponsorships and grants from institutions and public agencies.

All donations go directly to Biotechmet. WhatIsBiotechnology.org is an educational resource supported by Biotechmet. The Biotechnology and Medicine Education Trust (Biotechmet) is a registered charity with the Charity Commission. Registered Charity Number 1165469.

United Kingdom donors

Those who donate with Gift Aid can boost their donation by up to 25%. Note: If you pay tax at the higher or additional rate you can claim the difference between the rate you pay and the basic rate on your donation. For example, if you are a 40% rate taxpayer you can claim back £25 in tax relief for every £100 you donate.

Tax deductible donations for US donors

Biotechmet is a partner of the King Baudouin Foundation United States (KBFUS) which has set up the American Friends of Biotechnology and Medicine Education Trust fund enabling US based donors to make secure, tax deductible donations to Biotechmet. KBFUS operates as an American US 501(c)(3) public charity, facilitating the flow of American funds from the United States to non-US non-profit partners. KBFUS is used by organisations like the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC), EURORDIS, Genesis Research Trust, l’Institut Curie, Karolinska Institutet, Leiden University, Solvay Institutes for Physics and Chemistry for tax efficient donations from US based organisations, trusts and individuals.
